DSUMF January Newsletter

News from DSUMF This Month

This is a year of celebration for the Desert Southwest United Methodist Foundation.  We turn 40 this year and we plan to celebrate all year along.  Along the way, we will invite you to join us and celebrate with us.  Please make that one of your new year’s resolutions.

I guess being 40, in generational terms, makes the Foundation a member of the Millennial generation.  Three noted traits of Millennials are being curious, ethical, and tech savvy.

  • Curiosity is something the Foundation demonstrates weekly.  I visit a different church in the Conference each week.  It is a great way to get to know individual pastors and congregations and how they worship.  It provides insights into how the Foundation might assist them.  We are always curious about how we can better serve.

  • Ethics are the bedrock of any organization that serves as a custodian for other people’s money.  And that’s exactly what we do. All of our fund offerings are in keeping with the social principles in the Book of Discipline.

  • Tech-savviness is something the Foundation embraces.  We recently updated our accounting system to allow our clients access to information about their own fund.  Although we have only been up and running in Foundant for a few months, already 75% of our fund holders have taken advantage of their improved online access.

We may explore more Millennial traits and issues as we celebrate 40 years of ethical service to Methodist issues and interests.  We look forward to continuing to serve and celebrate with you.

Happy New Year!

Blessings,
